The High Museum of Art was designed by architect Richard Meier. It is an incredible building with white porcelain tiles and a dramatic white interior. It is home to four different levels of galleries and exhibits. The museum’s permanent collection includes over 10,000 individual pieces of art. Included in this permanent collection are pieces from Thomas Cole, Virginia Carroll, William Harnett and Thomas Sully. It includes 19th and 20th century American paintings, Italian paintings and sculpture, French Impressionism and much much more. No matter what your taste in art is, you will find something you like in the permanent collection. In addition to this permanent collection the museum also plays home to traveling exhibits from around the world. This makes for a museum that is constantly changing so do not be fooled into thinking that if you have seen it once there is nothing left for you to see.
